Iris Arpel: "The Old Bag Is Getting Into Bags"

Iris Apfel

Are you in need of a furry red Mongolian lamb purse? Who isn't?! Luckily, Iris Apfel has come to the rescue, or in her words to WWD: "The old bag is getting into bags!" The 90-year-old glammy is launching a 12-piece line of exotic handbags inspired by herself and priced between $228 to $398. Business partner and L & Leung Design Group president Lisa Nunziata explains the label's name, Extinction, to WWD: “When I met Iris, I told her I’m the last of a dying breed, and she shot back, ‘If you’re the end of a dying breed, then I must be extinct.’” In addition to handbags, Apfel designs optical wonders with Eyebobs, collabs on a M.A.C. makeup collection, and has her own jewelry line with HSN. Plus, she's slated to hit the big screen in a forthcoming Albert Maysles docu. What have you done this year, cheris?
