Miu Miu Presents 'The Woman Dress'

Last night Miu Miu unveiled The Woman Dress, the third in a series of short films by distinctive female filmmakers exploring women’s love affair with Miu Miu. The film stars Italian actress Maya Sansa and is set to a haunting soundtrack, written and performed especially for the film and the event in New York by trio Au Revoir Simone. DJ Set by Holy Ghost.

As always the Prada team put on a great event. Attention paid to the tiniest of details, down to the fabric woven napkins handed out with their Mojito's and hors d'œuvres. Amongest the guests were Giada Colagrande, Maya Sansa, Willem Dafoe, Marina Abramovic, Abel Ferrara, Mia Wasikowska, Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan, Harley Viera Newton, Leighton Meester, and Shala Monroque.

Miu Miu is also offering a special edition of the Miu Miu Culte Sunglasses will be available exclusively on miumiu.com for a limited time.

Here is more about the film, which is so far one of my favorites this year.

The Woman Dress is again set in an all-female world of glamour and desire. But this time fashion obsession is taken to its most extreme conclusion, in a metaphysical tale of transcendence and ritual.

A coven of elegant witches attends a bubbling cauldron, their shadowy cavern hung with the ghosts of dresses. Maya Sansa is undressed and led to a bath, and her finger pricked to draw blood. The witches -- played by Heather D'Angelo, Erika Forster and Annie Hart of Au Revoir Simone -- circle, chanting in strange tongues. As the smoke clears we see Maya Sansa has made the ultimate sacrifice, transforming herself into the object of her desire -- a beautiful blood red dress.

The film, featuring key dresses from Miu Miu, draws on a surreal cinematic language, with its red velvet curtain, reverse-speak and dreamlike mise-en-scène.
