Karl Lagerfeld Will Be at Macy’s in New York Next Week to Celebrate his Collaboration with the Retailer

Karl Lagerfeld doesn’t come to New York very often to grace us with his presence, so this is major news. On September 6 he’ll pop into the Macy’s Herald Square flagship for a “very exclusive celebration” to fete the designer’s capsule collectionfor the retailer, according to a release we just received. It will be the only appearance he makes for the brand, so let’s hope a hurricane or some other disaster doesn’t prevent him from getting in for it.
No word on whether this will be a public affair a la Justin Bieber’s fragrance launch at Macy’s (during which he was knocked down by over-zealous security guards), though the words “very exclusive” make us think not. Can you imagine a crowd of tourists attacking Karl and his entourage, and you know, trying to talk to him?
September 6 is a mere two days away from New York fashion week, so will Karl hang around and hit some shows? While the thought is intriguing, we’re sure he probably has to get back to Paris for that other label he works on in his spare time.

Macy’s says Karl will take a quick walk out on the floor, then will head in to a private cocktail reception at the store.
