Luxury Rap: The Top 5 Fashion References On Watch The Throne

Not only does Kanye and Jay-Z‘s Watch The Throne boast sick album art courtesy of Riccardo Tisci, it also includes a whole bunch of amazing fashion references.
Of course, the bulk of the fashion-loving lyrics come courtesy of ‘Ye and not Jay. Kanye waxes poetic about rumored fling Mary-Kate Olsen, rumored collaborator Giuseppe Zanotti, and his much-loved Lanvin. There’s no Phoebe Philo namedrop this go around, but we’re dying over his verse on “Otis”.
Check out our five favorite references below, pulled directly from the liner notes, asterisks and all:
1. “Ni**as In Paris”, Kanye:
Prince William ain’t do it right if you ask me,
Cause if I was him I would have married Kate & Ashley
What’s Gucci my ni**a? What’s Louie my killa?
What’s drugs my deala? What’s that jacket, Margiela?
2. “Otis”, Kanye:
I made “Jesus Walks”, I’m never goin’ to hell
Couture-level flow, it’s never going on sale
Luxury rap, the Hermes of verses
Sophisticated ignorance, write my curses in cursive
3. “Illest Motherf**ker Alive”, Kanye:
Collo Drolo sponsored by Manolo
She got Zeppi Notos ready for some photos
Yeah and I’m cold b**ch, please try to keep the door closed
Lanvin thousand dollar tee with no logos
4. “That’s My B**ch”, Jay-Z:
How could someone so gangsta be so pretty in pictures
Ripped jeans and a blazer and some Louboutin slippers
5. “Made In America”, Kanye:
Now all my ni**as designing and we all swaggin’
Ignore the critics just to say we did it
This ain’t no fashion show, motherf***er we live it
And as a special treat, here is Tisci’s color art for the album booklet:
