Anna Wintour is Not Writing a Memoir

Early this morning, Page Six reported that Vogue Editor in Chief of 23 years Anna Wintour was shopping around a memoir to potential publishers. The report sounded pretty baseless to begin with but on top of that, a Vogue rep told them it was “absolutely not true.”

That Wintour is then going behindVogue’s back trying to get a memoir published (or that Vogue‘s rep is lying) is extremely unlikely. The Post reasons that Wintour has “opened up significantly in recent years,” citing The September Issue, a 60 Minutes interview and a WSJprofile as evidence. However, in each of these instances, the focus was onVogue, projects related to Vogue and the fashion business as a whole. It wasn’t Anna sitting there talking about herself or her life. She doesn’t do that.
We’d be very surprised if this rumor turned out to be true, as it would basically go against what Anna is. Not that she hasn’t lead an interesting life, but she’s not Diana Vreeland. She’s a business person first and foremost. If she were ever involved in the publishing of a book, it would be with Vogue in mind, not herself.
