The 2011 Met Gala Décor: Get a Sneak Peek Inside!

The 2011 Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala is just hours away and things are starting to shape up inside. This year’s exhibit, “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” serves as the inspiration for the romantic décor.  A large tree  serves as the centerpiece to greet guests as soon as they enter the museum’s iconic rotunda. Influenced by McQueen’s Fall 2008 collection, dubbed “The Girl Who Lived in the Tree,” sparse branches adorned with white blooms make for a magical entryway. Unique green hydrangeas and classic white roses seem to be the evening’s flowers of choice and are quite apropos for the occasion as McQueen thrived on breaking the rules, but keeping the tradition. Here are some other behind the scenes photos from the Met Gala setup:

  1. Gary,

How auspicious an occasion and opportunity to present your wonderful creation. To partake in a memorial experience of a wonderful designer Alexander McQueen whom many miss so much. Truly a feat to assemble and complete such a heavy tree in such a sort time. Hats off to you and your team of professionals who work so tirelessly!
