BERNARD ARNAULT is fashion's wealthiest individual, according to the Forbes 2011 Rich List which was published today. Mexican Telecom tycoon Carlos Slim Helu came first place, with £45.7 billion.
Arnault, who owns luxury fashion conglomerate LVMH - which controls some of the world's most important fashion labels including Dior, Louis Vuitton and Givenchy and who this weeks invested in Bulgari, came fourth and is worth a staggering £25.3 billion, making him the richest man in France. The founder of high street store Zara, Amancio Ortega, came seventh with £19.1 billion. At number 13 came Stefan Persson, the chairman of H&M, with his £15.1 billion.
Other fashion names to feature on the list include Francois Pinault,owner of LVMH rival PPR - the company who owns Gucci,Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent and Stella McCartney. Pinault comes in at 67, with a £7.11 fortune. Philip Green and his wife Cristina ranked in at 132 with £4.45 billion, while Giorgio Armani featured at 136. The Italian 76-year-old designer is worth £4.1 billion.
