December Harper’s Bazaar UK cover featuring the original supermodels (though it was sadly missing the always-fascinating Linda Evangelista). Today the issue hit newsstands, so we get to see the whole thing. Plus, the Duran Duran connection is finally explained.
Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen, and Yasmin Le Bon all loaned their legend (and their still-amazing legs) to a shoot with the British mag. Dolce & Gabbana dressed the ladies in their classic corseted styles for the cover, but on the inside it’s pure 80s pop–the ladies are done up to look like Duran Duran, with Naomi Campbell in the role of Simon Le Bon. (It would have been slightly creepy if his wife Yasmin played him.)
What’s most interesting about all this was the chance to catch up with the various models. Harper’s Bazaar UK did a little Q & A with the supers. Here are the highlights:
-Naomi Campbell is “trying to erase stress from my life as much as possible.” We support her.
-Cindy Crawford said the way her “husband and kids look at her” make her feel like she could rule the world. Oh, and also a “good blow-dry.”
-Eva Herzigova got sick of being called “the Marilyn Monroe of the 1990s” and thinks her nanny should be woman of the year.
-Helena Christensen’s 11-year-old son is in a band, and she has a healthy sense of “self-irony.”
-Yasmin Le Bon says that a “vitamin B12 shot or, failing that, Berocca [a vitamin supplement]” makes her feel like she can rule the world.
Love love LOVE to see more supermodels impersonate 80s bands. We vote for Culture Club next. Click through to see the editorial.
